Unique Audio for NZ's Giant Rugby Ball!

Surround 6.1 Installation for Eiffel Tower Venue

Managed by Tourism New Zealand, a giant Rugby Ball Venue will showcase New Zealand tourism and trade to international audiences during the final stages of the 2007 Rugby World Cup.

From early October for about three weeks, the 12 metre high and 25 metre long venue, will stand on the Champs de Mars, close to France's iconic Eiffel Tower.

Oceania Audio were contracted to design and install the sound system for this unusual inflatable structure.

Our Installation division created a unique and versatile 6.1 surround sound system.

The sound system is required to have two distinct functions, one for the surround sound within the dome for the public exhibitions, the other for live performances from the stage area, during evening corporate events.

During the day, the New-Zealand themed venue will be open to the public, with up to 220 people being able to experience a "virtual" New Zealand (tourism, culture, lifestyle, etc.)

This dome sound system consists of a rack mounted digitally controlled Ashly 24.24 matrix processor (12 inputs and 12 outputs). This feeds the Ashly 6250 six channel amplifier which drives EV Evid 6.2's loudspeakers. There is a Sennhesier EW G2 wireless mic for this system.

In the evenings, the stage at one end of the dome is used for live entertainment for the corporate, trade or industry events. The stage system consists of 2 x KV 2 EX 10 10" two way self powered loudspeakers on stands with an KV EX 2.2 active subwoofer. These are connected by a multicore system to the Yamaha mixer. There's also a TC electronic C 300 Compressor in circuit to prevent the system from being overdriven during celebrations! Stage monitors are two Mackie SRM 350's, and there's a basic Shure microphone kit to cover most eventualities.
