the People who just keep this place Humming ...
|
There are many talented engineers
and numerous support staff here at Oceania.
Some are just taller than others! Of course they'll all help you
by flying the speakers, pointing the lights, tweaking the knobs,
maintaining the gear, and spending the money. Some have
even allowed their photos to be published below, but many have refused to supply any personal details ...
As your visual and sonic requirements are very much in their hands, you should perhaps peruse their credentials ...
if any!

Truman Peacocke
Oceania CEO (Chief Executive Officer) & Digital Engineer.
Truman was the one who boldly decided to move the whole Oceania Group to
Bit Digital by early 2007. Hoping for the improved Digital
integration of separate Divisions here at Oceania, Truman
had already initiated our brilliant Yamaha
PM5D purchase oin 2005, and in 2006
had a state of the art Digital Telephone and Paging system
installed!
We're not sure yet about the paging facility though, many staff use it at random, and Heavy Metallers here inadvertently leave mics open after some comment then proceed with testing a 180 Kw PA rig!
Although he's the shortest staff member at Oceania by far, Truman definitely has the greatest amount of fun.

Chris Gillies
Managing Director. The Captain
now! Chris is the person at Oceania whose job was the
hardest to define, but now he's steering us all into the
future with a great new optimism. He is truly our jack
of all trades, as equally at home in the Manufacturing Department
as he is designing and installing huge Delay Speaker Systems
for concerts such as Robbie Williams, Ricky Martin, the Bee
Gees and all the Christmas in the Park Shows. Chris
works extensively in the Corporate, TV and Sports Markets,
from the inception of a concept to the actual Show, and everything
in between. He is well known for his Basil Faulty approach!
In previous lives, Chris has been a professional photographer,
a carpenter and dodgy truck driver He has suffered at
Oceania for more than a decade now.

Paul Jeffery B.E. (Hons.)
Technical Director. He's one of
the few people in New Zealand that went to university. A
quick learner, he never had the "Could have done better"
report card we all grew up with. To this day, there
are precious few things he can't do better than the rest
of us, and thank God for that. The "Technical Rock"
at Oceania and all-time Scrabble Champion of New Zealand.
Can tell a present, past participle from a noun at a
100 metres, without his glasses! A well-respected musician
and singer, Greg dragged Paul from the well-known Band "Schtung"
and locked him in a room with a soldering iron. He leaves
the lab regularly to take up his other occupation as one of
the better Monitor Engineers available anywhere (ask Neil
Finn). Paul is the creator of the various Oceania manufactured
products such as our amp racks, the Ocean 1 hi-fi amp, our
curvaceous new wedges and the Oceania motor controller. He
was an accomplished Church organist and pianist as a child
in his hometown of Wellington. His hobbies are Oceania.

Bev Richards
Taurus the Bull ... Our new Company Accountant, used to do
maths and make up number puzzles for fun, also a hippy flower
child from way back. Likes the great outdoors, sport of any
description (except boxing), life and living it. Dislikes:
winter, stripping wallpaper, shopping. Wants to help make
the world a better place ... and more profitable of course. Seen
here, Bev's getting her announcing skills up to speed for
the imminent launch of Oceania FM ... Roll on Summer!

James MacKenzie
Heads up our Corporate
Audio division, these are jobs that require numerous
skills, not the least of which is the ability to adapt to
a clients completely different plan at a moments notice! Our
clients here from the corporate world are very particular,
but attention to detail is one of James' greatest attributes.
He has made us many friends. |

Ricky Gallagher
Ricky could be at Uni finishing his degree, but he prefers
loud music and loves dance parties where the girls seem particularly
friendly ... He's excelled in the steep technological
learning curve that's part of Oceania, and with those
large Dance rigs we're using currently his Uni days are
definitely on hold! more

Neil Heathcote
After trying his hand at land surveying, running a pub, designing windows, quantity surveying and repairing vending machines, Neil had a pop at sound and realised he could probably get away with it... He clocked up 7 years freelancing around the British Isles doing everything from exhibitions to stadium tours. Then a 2 year stint with a 'well known Birmingham based reggae act' took him to exotic, faraway places and his first taste of New Zealand. In October 2006, he dragged his family (including the cat) to the Southern Hemisphere and after a strict period of quarantine following years of making tea with teabags, found himself a full time feature at Oceania. He can now be found lurking in the warehouse, whiteboard markers in-hand, attempting to keep one hand on the helm and at least one high-class Danish Echo Machine in stock at all times...... This weeks goal at Oceania: to persuadeChris to move on from that Vegemite muck and try some REAL Marmite.

Peter Hughes
Concert Touring Operations Manager at Oceania with an impressive CV that's nearly a couple of yards long. This man is experienced, talented, flexible,
motivated and inspirational. Born in the UK in 1961, Pete worked as Technical Projects Manager for Canegreen a leading London UK based sound company. After four years of juggling huge projects
for them like Party in the Park (100,000 people), the Isle of Wight festival (30,000), and Christian Music festivals (24,000), Pete happened to notice a country somewhere else on the globe called New Zealand and, frankly it's never been quite the same here ever since.
A keen walker and golfer Pete would dearly love to learn to fly, if only his time at ground level would permit ...

Sarne Thorogood
Systems engineer to the famous, and sure to be seen
eventually all over the planet. Sarne has worked on gigs and tours
far too numerous to list completely, but just for starters:
he's toured with Pink Floyd, Oasis, Robbie Williams, The
Cure, Peter Gabriel, The Chemical Brothers, and The Pet Shop
Boys. See the legendary NZ Musician Magazine
article for all the gen. Keep your eyes peeled too at
Big Day Out almost any year ...
Sarne will be there!

Richard Baker
Richard has been with us for some time as an engineer, and has
become our Digital Recording wiz able to cope with five
Mackie MDR 24/96 24 track recorders at once! Evidence
can be clearly seen on our Russell Watson Spectacular
page. Talents like this are pretty rare, so we call
upon Richard when-ever similar gigs arise. One of his
recent contributions: recording famed ex-pat Kiwi pianist/arranger
Allan Broadbent with the NZSO at the Auckland Town Hall, December
2003, and more recently as Monitor Engineer on ... more

Margaret Emily (OB)
Margaret joined Oceania in November of 2005. Not yet sure of her role here, she's under the suspicion that Oceania has been contracted out by her husband (left) to keep an eye on her while he's at sea. Not always pleasant to deal with, we're getting the hang of when to avoid her. When she's not answering the phone or harassing the boys out back, we can usually find her cleaning the kitchen, watering plants, or seeking out the 'Friday after work' bottle of chardonnay.... even if it's only

Greg Peacocke
The one that started all this Greg has been at the helm
of the good ship Oceania for almost thirty
years folks! He feels it's time for a change ...
He actually turned the lights on originally and may
well be the last one out turning them all off again. In
previous lives was a professional photographer, a chef, film
industry grip / clapper-loader / camera operator and now he
carries heavy things for a living (work mates mainly). Can
do most things in the live sound world but is generally better
at talking about it, as opposed to actually doing it! On
the rarest of rare occasions, has been known to get his white
T shirt dirty, this usually requires a quick trip home for
a clean one. "Dad" to one and all. He's
interested in having "other interests" when he has
the interest. In the meantime, there's no interest
thank you! more
